Statement from EazyCanna and All of Our Staff

January 26, 2026

To our community, partners, and all those who believe in justice and dignity:

We, the leadership and staff of EazyCanna, stand united in deep sorrow and firm opposition to the ongoing violence and loss of life at the hands of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents, notably the tragic killings of Renee Nicole Good and Alex Jeffrey Pretti in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Both individuals—American citizens and members of their communities—were fatally shot by federal agents during immigration enforcement operations, actions that have ignited nationwide protest and condemnation.

In early January 2026, Renée Good, a 37-year-old mother of three, was shot and killed by an ICE agent during a traffic stop in Minneapolis. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner ruled her death a homicide resulting from multiple gunshot wounds.

On January 24, 2026, Alex Pretti, a 37-year-old intensive care unit nurse and U.S. citizen, was fatally shot by federal agents during a federal immigration enforcement operation. Video footage and multiple eyewitness accounts contradict official claims that he posed an imminent threat; instead, bystanders describe Pretti as attempting to help others and peacefully recording the events before he was subdued and shot.

These deaths are not isolated but part of a broader escalation of aggressive federal immigration enforcement—often referred to by critics as a militarized “occupation”—that has seen thousands of agents deployed and multiple civilians killed in broad daylight.

We are:

  • Anti-cruelty in all forms

  • Anti-ICE policies and practices that lead to violence and death

  • Anti-murder and unequivocally opposed to the use of lethal force against civilians

  • Anti-Kristi Noem in her leadership role as DHS Secretary and her public defense of these confrontations

  • Anti-Donald Trump in support of this administration’s violent immigration enforcement strategy

We are also Pro-America—and by that we mean pro-democracy, pro-human rights, and pro-community safety. True patriotism means insisting that our government protect all people with fairness and justice, not terrorize neighborhoods with armed federal forces.

We reject narratives that mischaracterize Good and Pretti as threats or criminals to justify their deaths. We recognize that many communities, including Minneapolis, have risen up in protest—calling for accountability, transparency, and an end to policies that treat immigrants and civilians as expendable.

Our country must be defined by unity, compassion, and the protection of life. We urge our community and fellow Americans to stand together against actions that divide, oppress, and injure our neighbors. Let us honor the memories of Renee Good and Alex Pretti by working for meaningful reform and rejecting cruelty in all its forms.
